Got Milk?

Catching up on everything after the trip. Cleaning/care, arranging spay/neuters, helping people to problem solve, and already getting ready for David’s Tokyo trip next weekend. Some of the kittens had diarrhea just before we left, so we had to cut out some of the milk and start coccidium treatment. It’s often the case that a new kitten comes in with that but it misses diagnosis, and then spreads. Luckily the kittens are all fairly healthy at this point, so it was easier to address, and things are already looking up. Lunch time today had most of the kittens excited by the return of some milk formula mixed in with their usual dry and wet kitten food. Yesterday we went out to look in on a situation with a feral kitten that a young woman is now trying to socialize, after it was left with her. We set up a cage and advised her to try to talk quietly to the kitten, and make slow advances regarding play. It’s a really lovely kitten–looks much like our recently adopted Valerie–but is now completely terrified. Today David went out to meet Gina and return Nimai, who I’m sure really misses his mom! He’s a big affectionate boy, and he’d recently been spending most of his time on our bed, since he really hated the cage. Nobody in here for socializing these days so he had the place to himself! Gina’s two fosters got to join our new early spay program while she was away, and were spayed last week, so they are ready for adoption and hopefully going out from here soon. See photos of these two cuties on our facebook page–please join our group, if you like, while you’re at it!

Yeah, I think Nimai is glad to have me back. He is being really cuddly. My dad built a cat-door-thing to put in the enclosed window for him, but he doesn’t understand yet that he can open it himself.

Good luck to Josie and Alexandra! They are marvelous kittens.
