The mother of one of our volunteers comes out once a week to clean the two first floor enclosures, and today a very kind woman from Osaka joined her. They did an excellent job, and we are so grateful for the help. I tried to spend most of the day off my injured foot, but did go out in the morning to take Saku chan to visit the kittens in foster care, as well as to pick up a nice couple visiting from Tokyo. They’re helping out with JCN’s Tokyo activities, so came out to take some pictures for the website and to display at events. My student, Saku chan, and I, met them at the station and then stopped by the new foster home to take pictures of the kittens. The very nice foster family let our group crowd into my student’s bedroom to sit around and play with the kittens! After that we went to the shelter. We left Saku chan at her house on the way back, so that she could have a nap. The kitties at the shelter behaved well–though naughty Tenshi once again, made his mark (luckily just on me!).
Ewok joined us in the enclosure, where she’s been able to spend an increasing amount of time recently. She loves to snuggle David on our bed, during the short time in the house that we’ve been giving her, to increase her social behaviors. Still fearful, she runs away at any unexpected noise, but when comfortable, she purrs and purrs. She seems to love attention, even crave it, if it’s handed out on her terms.
We had a nice visit from a 5 year old American girl a couple of days ago, and I’ve just gotten around to making a photo page. She is the neice of a friend, and she loved petting the cats! The cats aren’t always sure what to make of children, at first, but it’s a good experience for them. We explained that they would come to her, if she sat down, and sure enough they did! Pictures from the visit here…
