Tokyo spay/neuter subsidies

spay2
Here’s a list of possible subsidies for various areas of Tokyo. This kind of information changes from time to time, so it still may be best to check in person. If you go to the foreign residence section in your city office, they should be able to provide you with up to date information in English. However if you have difficulty tracking down the information, feel free to contact us and we’ll try to help.

Update on Adachi ward, Tokyo (Dec. 29, 2010):
The program is still in operation, but it terminates in the middle of the fiscal year whenever funds run out. This year funds will run out as of the end of Jan. 2011, after which you would have to wait until the start of the next fiscal year (April 1) to apply.
You have to use one of their designated vets, but they all seem expensive, so you aren’t saving much money anyway. Instead I highly recommend Dorasena Doubutsu Byouin, a 7 min walk from Takenotsuka station (10 min north of Kita Senju on the Tobu line) right next to the Denny’s on the main route (major road for buses, etc) that runs perpendicular to the station. They charge 8,400 yen for males and 11,550 for females, so it is much cheaper to go there, even though you can’t use the ward’s subsidies at that hospital. They are open on Sundays and national holidays but closed Tues. afternoons and all day Wed. I have had more than 10 animals neutered/spayed there so far. Their address is Takenotsuka 5-6-16, Adachi-ku and tel. no. is 03-3860-4981.

Correction to the above post:

The vet I listed above (Dorasena) does indeed accept discount/subsidy coupons from the Ward Office.
