March 15, volunteer workday (click to enlarge photos)
Tear down day for the old enclosure...the before picture. David had actually done all of the tear down work himself, including disasembling the stone wall, a week earlier.

The job on the workday was to level the ground for the new concrete slab, which meant moving lots and lots of dirt, as well as the cats' favorite tree.

Volunteers pushed wheel barrows through the neighborhood, moving the dirt to a place where a farmer needed it...the cats stayed in their indoor space throughout, unfazed.

Even on workdays we have visitors! Sakuya-chan and her mother stopped by with their pet duck (Pii-chan), to say hello to the cats.

Sakuya-chan is one of my brightest little English students, and is a real animal lover. On her way out she said "Get well soon, little cat!" to Michael, who is missing one eye.
