Ghana
ADOPTED!
Ghana was found abandoned in Hikone on
September 19, at around 4 weeks of age, with her 4 siblings.
She started out on the shy side, but is now a playful, happy tortoise
shell, with a sweet personality. She was adopted with her sister Kitkat in
Tokyo on 11/18/2009.

Sorry for the long absence in emails. My husband and I have been very
busy with our respective jobs, but when we come home, it's cat time!
Ghana
kept her name, since my husband was born in Ghana, Africa. Kit-Kat was
changed to Kafka. They had some ringworm to get over when they got
here, but they are fine now! They were spayed recently, have had their
first set of shots, and are going for another set next weekend. They
are harness-trained and go for walks down the street and in the garden
with us in the evenings. Ghana has learned to fetch toys as well and
will do so for hours; Kafka loses interest quickly if they toy isn't
moving, but she's a climber! She zips up the cat tree in a couple of
seconds and likes to climb short trees on her walks as well as she can
with clipped claws. Ghana is the brains and Kafka is the beauty. They
were suspicious of each other the first couple of days but are now fast
friends and can't stand being more than a room apart from each other
and will cry if separated for any length of time. They get playtime
with me in the morning before work and with Soi in the evening after
work.
We want to thank you again for all your help in getting us our little
lovelies. They make our lives so much richer.
11/8 Kafka (formerly Kitkat) is a bit nervous with Ghana at the moment
but they are getting used to each other. We made them a cardboard tower
to use until the cat tree arrives and Kafka loves the little bed
inside. Both are super-sweet and seem to have undergone minimal stress
considering their day; they ate well and have both used the litter box
and are responding to toys and people. We have spread out the futon in
their room tonight and will sleep in here a couple of nights until we
feel they are ready to sleep in our bedroom (introducing another room
tonight seems a bit much). Thank you so much for helping us out,
despite all the confusion that went on. We love these little cats and
are so grateful for their addition to our lives. We will keep you
posted on them.
