Jojo

Jojo was found at 4 months of age,
living behind a supermarket in 2004. He was covered in scabies, and desperately
needed immediate rescue. Having been out shopping, we were without a
carrier to put him in, and used a washing machine net from the ¥100
store, instead. We got him into the net easily, but he then hopped out
of our arms, still zipped inside the net, and made his way
(hamster-ball fashion) down the road. I'll never forget chasing a
bouncing net down the road, finally catching up to him, and getting him
more securely in my arms. (Since then, we recommend making a
better emergency carrier, using baskets from the ¥100 store.)
After Jojo
recovered he was unable to join any of the enclosures without fighting
dangerously with other cats, so he eventually joined the TNR cats
living outside
the shelter. He patrolled the neighborhood, and was a favorite of
people
living nearby, until he very sadly passed away on March 12, 2010,
during our recent Parvovirus outbreak. He grew to be a lovely boy who
was fond of every person that he met, and was not shy about showing it.
He will be sorely missed.
