We went out to help neighbors with cats whose 90 year old owner was
suddenly hospitalized. These lucky cats had some good friends in the
neighborhood, who had been feeding them, and were hoping to find a good
plan for their future! It's likely that the cats' owner will have to go
to live in a group home, so we had to find a different place for these
cats to live. There were reports of 6 - 8 adult cats (none
spayed/neutered) and 6 kittens, which had constant access to both
inside and outside the house. Unfortunately, all of the cats were
somewhat or completely feral, making them poor candidates for rehoming.
A woman who lives down the street offered to care for the cats
inside her place, while they recover from spay/neuter operations and
the owner's house is sealed. After that, the cats will be released, and
will continue to be fed by this woman (with food supplied by JCN).
Although it's not an ideal solution, it is better than the original
plan, which was to send all of these cats to be destroyed. We are
grateful to the kind neighbors, who have been so helpful in working to
resolve this situation.
We first set traps for the adult cats...we stood back waiting for the
cats to spring the traps...we set up kitten traps inside the house...a
beautiful old photo of the owner's parents

All of the cats were in a panic...their new rehabilitation
location...the one that got away, to be trapped another day...two
little kittens hiding behind the litter box in their new cage

We set up 3 big cages from JCN, for all of the cats...two adult cats
hide in their litter box...one adult cat hides on his loft bed...two
